Stereotypical Roles

Gender roles stating what each person’s job is in the family has been set for a long time. Although, as time has progressed, the need for more money has gradually changed the set gender roles. The man of the house would work in order to earn money which would be used for expenses such as food, rent, clothing and other so on. They would also protect the family, and go around the house fixing what is broken and relaxing, to be able to work the next day. A typical woman’s role is to stay home and take care of the remaining things. They would not have a job, and stay home. Cleaning, cooking, taking care of the kids, and making the husband comfortable were all part of the women’s duties. Although, times have changed. Even though women have started working like men, they still do not receive the same opportunities. Although, it is not because they do not have rights in order to work important jobs and receive higher wages. It is because they are not physically and mentally capable of performing the same way as a man. The majority of females cannot handle tools and equipment, therefore losing the opportunity of getting jobs in one branch. Women’s emotions are another reason why they have less of an opportunity getting a job than males. People cannot depend on a woman’s emotions to decide whether the city where a notorious ISIS member is hiding should be bombed or not. A man will look at the facts, the pros and cons of what would happen as a result, and commence with their plan. Gender roles have changed from what they were back then, and the stereotypes have changed. Currently, a man and a woman are both required to work in a family in order to be able to take care of all the expenses.

  1. This is a disappointing blog post, Davit. Your statement that women are incapable of working with the same effectiveness and impartiality as men is ridiculous and false. If women were given the same educational and occupational opportunities as men, they would certainly be working with equal, if not more, efficiency. Aside from your argument, I have a couple comments about your writing itself. The post transitioned normally between topics for the most part, but the last two sentences seem like an abrupt change from what to were discussing at that point to what you had discussed before. You could have better connected your arguments back to your main point. Also, you used the word “although” several times in your post, and in most of those cases the word “however” would have fit better. You could also change the sentence structure so you could put a “but” or “yet” in the middle to not have words repeat.

    1. Damn I though after the first week of blog comments that we agreed we would never start this again.

  2. Honestly Davit, I am going to have to disagree with your opinion. Women are just as fit for the occasion than men are, there is no inferiority and there is no superiority towards genders; that does not exist, we are all equally effective and important. You should really take time and think this out for the “greater good” as some say.

  3. I believe you did the right thing and talked about both men and women in detail. Usually, people would say men are supposed to be “tough” and move on to talk about women. The example you provided with bombing an area will show what each gender believe is the correct way to assess the situation. I agree with the statement that women often make decision based on emotion. We learned this fact in psychology, so no one can argue that statement.

  4. Davit, I found your blog post extremely enlightening and open-minded. I find it difficult for any individual to have the ability to disagree with any one statement you mentioned, as I found them to be perfectly accurate in describing the obviously dominant nature of men and the servile and submissive manner women are and should be in the present day. Frankly, your blog post also allowed me to question why feminists even exist and what authority they think they have. Why should women be equal to men when we are clearly lacking both physically AND especially mentally. Alright, I must go now. The floors are not going to sweep themselves! Once again, flawless job, Davit!

  5. There is a song by the Beatles, which I hold very close to my heart (this annoying thing girls have...gross, I know). It is called "We Can Work Out" and I will insert it here in response to your enlightening blog post:

    "Think of what you're saying
You can get it wrong and still you think that it's alright
    Think of what I'm saying
We can work it out and get it straight, or say good night
    We can work it out"

  6. Davit you have written this blog very well but I have to disagree with what you have stated about men being more capable of making decisions than women. Women are just as capable as men and they're use of pathos makes their argument more valid. Just a suggestion but stop being sexist.

  7. I read this post for an obvious reason I wanted to know if you had new arguments, or any real statics that would help your case. I was disappointed you did not. I do not mean to be harsh but I completely disagree,a woman is just as capable as a man in the sense that mentally and physically we are all equal. I would understand if you were to say now that times have changed women are working up the ranks but to continuously disregard all the progress women have made is wrong and ignorant.

  8. There seems to be more hostility here than the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Davit, I commend you for having such an extreme opinion. As a neutral person, and no I do not mean Eli Wiesel's type of neutral, I love watching two sides fight. Conflict brings a smile to my face. Thank you Davit for hating on women, and thank you women for burning him to a crisp. The Lord of Light was surely pleased by this sacrifice in his name.
